Welcome to the Palimar Puppy Blog! We will do our best to post updates at least once a week.

The pups are keeping us on our toes! They are all well and very snotty, driving Libby nuts. Birds are very cool and we all plaster the pen to follow them. Unfortunately the wing is no where near as interesting as live birds.

They have also made quite a fort out of our deck. The little buggers have a grand time running in and under and chasing each other around the "clubhouse." We didn't mind, really, until they decided to stop coming out from under there! They will be in for a big surprise tomorrow when they find all the entryways blocked.

We have also updated our pen situation. The pen is now divided into 3 sections: a crate for sleeping, a patch of linoleum for play, eating and drinking and a, for the lack of a better term, litter box for them to do their business in. I was quite skeptical about this layout, but optimistic  since changing papers is no easy task. After a bit of tasting, the pups quickly found the litter (Equine Fresh Chips) was not palatable and with a bit of praise it did not take long before they were going exclusively on the chips. We may never use papers again!

This past week was their first outside and boy are they loving it! Aside from one rainy day, the weather has been very cooperative and we have spent a lot of time exploring the outdoors and potty training. So long as we are able to offer the pups the opportunity to potty outside, they do the majority of their business in the yard. Overnight and when we are at work are different stories, but the pups are actively seeking out papers when they aren't able to go out.

Everyone is on dry food now (...

Hello everyone! We have made the "big move" to the official puppy pen. We have designed this pen to most effectively encourage paper training by separating sleeping areas from feeding and evacuating areas. You can see pictures of the new set up under Week 3 in the photo album. Pretty much it is an X-large crate with a blanket hooked up to a very large pen with papers in it. They are doing very well for their age and will be even more excited when we graduate them to going outside (Week 5). Th...

The pups are starting to play! They also enjoyed their first feeding last night and had made quite a mess of themselves. Check out the adorable footage on youtube by searching "weimiegurl".

Liberty and family are doing well! Puppy tails have almost all healed up and Libby's mastitis is history. The tiny terrors have recently opened their eyes and are very vocal as they wander around the pen. Speaking of the pen, we have expanded the walls to accomodate the growing size of the pups. Libby was having a hard time finding a place to lay down amid the masses so a few extra feet should help. Eventually they will be moved to a larger pen set up to start potty training, but for now they...
